Action Project Description:

For my action project, I wanted to create a platform for people to share their art to evolve into a greater artistic community. To achieve this, I started a website where people can submit their poetry to be displayed and seen by others. The basis of my research was centered around poetry's role in therapy and mental health, and so I hoped that the website would serve as a vessel to encourage people to express themselves in art. After some time with the website, I realized that it wasn't wholly fulfilling its purpose in therapy. To draw the line between poetry and therapy on the website, I wrote a long section on the about page explaining poetry therapy a small amount. After finishing that, To make the connection even more clear, I interviewed local artists and some of my peers to ask them about their relationship with art and its relation to their mental health. I then condensed these interviews down into a short ~5-minute video to put on the about section of the website and display in a small film festival with my peers
