Action Project Description:

For my action project, I built a fully autonomous drone. However, this drone is not the classic 4-motored quadcopter many people are used to, it is more like a plane. This specific design I used allowed me to install two forward-facing motors and has a large cargo bay for carrying a payload. An example of payload this type of drone would carry could be medical supplies, surveillance equipment, safety gear, blood bags, etc… Another application of this kind of drone is reconnaissance and search and rescue. I outfitted my drone with two cameras, one on the front to see where it is going in real-time, and another to record high-resolution video facing downward.
The applications listed above are better suited for this style of a drone than a quadcopter drone because they require less maintenance and they are more efficient. This means they can fly farther and longer on a single charge of the battery.
